40 million per day in budget contributions and no audited accounts add up to one thing its time for a referendum. Stuart Wheeler

The Full Problem

We’re now faced with a clear choice that has huge implications for every man woman and child who lives within these shores.

And yet the three major parties are ignoring the very clear dangers that surround them.

Call it oblivion or call it denial. But there’s a perfect storm ahead and it could make the credit crunch look like small beer.

Like all perfect storms the European one comprises a number of elements. All are on a collision course.

A black hole of money - and accountability:

The financial element is alarming: £40 million in EU budget contributions leave our coffers daily, disappearing into a European black hole. But, though appalling, this figure is only a small fraction of the total cost of our membership.

If left to continue, the tax burden will eventually cripple the country.

A culture of corruption:

The regulatory aspect is even more worrying: 14 years of un-audited accounts and a growing culture of greed and corruption that tolerates no whistleblowers, and which led to the resignation of the whole EU commission in 1999.

This corruption led to the dismissal of Marta Andreasen, the auditor who was hired to investigate the fraud occurring, and who eventually blew the whistle on the whole racket. She is now UKIP's treasurer.

The democratic vacuum:

Any chance we have of doing something about this is fast disappearing:

  • 75% of all the rules and regulations have by-passed our British parliament entirely.
  • The 55% of the British public who want out of the EU are ignored.
  • The promise to have a referendum has been forgotten by the three major parties.

The only institution we have that can stop the EU, the British parliament, is losing its teeth as every day passes. Very soon it will be too late. But I believe there is still time.

The June 4th European election was one chance and UKIP took it by coming second in the UK EU elections. We must try to create more opportunities to resist the ever growing powers of the EU.
